Be Strong and Shine--Feminist in Commercial

First of all, let's have a look at this video.

This is a commercial of Pantene. It sets male and female characters in the same scenario and labeled with different perspective for both. Not surprisingly, males always got the positive judgement, such as: boss, persuasive, dedicated, and neat, etc. While female got the negative impression, like bossy, pushy, selfish, and show-off, etc. All the scenarios are actually happening in our society. there is no doubt that the gender discrimination do exist in the workplace.

In this commercial, Pantene did not use the old way to show the beauty and sexy factors. Nor suggests that female should be a good housewife. On the other hand, this commercial present the self-confidence and the professional abilities of female at workplace in a positive way. Because there is no difference of the behavior between male and female in the workplace. This commercial implies that those stereotype should not be the barrier of female. Just like the slogan,"don't let labels hold your back."

But there is still a little flaw in the end of the commercial, that is "be strong and shine." This phrase also contains a little discrimination of female. Since most of the problems that female are facing with in their workplace is not because female are not strong enough; it is a problem caused by the whole society and people's recognition. In order to make it right, mainstream media should be the innovator to change people's stereotype about female in workplace.

All in all, this commercial is a good start to let people face the problem.
