Culture Jammer around Me

My father is a Chinese artist, he did a lot of culture jamming art works in the previous few years. For example, he made a series of works called “I love MacDonald’s”. He drew on the original picture to parody and irony the brand and the business. He took one picture in MacDonald’s, then drew different clothes on the consumers in that picture, and add different words on it. Like the picture I attached, there are many Chinese soldiers who were celebrating a  shooting competition award ceremony and were eating in MacDonald’s. He used one original picture to show many different kinds of events happen in MacDonald’s in this series, which is fun and tell the audience that the brand is silly if you see it in another way. The interesting thing is I was in his works too!(My father is the one who turned his head and eating a hamburger, I was about 4 years old and was actually eating chips!)
Another art work my father did is to prank Chinese CCTV News which is very orthodox and serious. He imitated the anchor of CCTV News and says something really funny that will never be in the real CCTV News. He made up some exaggerated news and broadcasted them very seriously. For instance, there was a sports news like Chinese soccer team won 52:0 against Brazil soccer team, and the player who scored the 52nd goal said “If the turf was flatter, we would score 100!” That was silly because Chinese soccer team is really bad comparing to Brazil soccer team. He made fun of some phenomenon in the society, and made jokes of Chinese government, too.
I like these works. They not only make people laugh, but also let people think more about the commercials around us, the sports system and the government.
