Hate to break it to you girls, but you aren't a Disney Princess.

When we were talking about the articles discussing the Disney Princess Culture I didn't really taking a whole lot away from it. I mean I get that little girls can be a little be impressionistic and think that they are indeed a princess, but I think it falls to the parents to kind of set them straight. How hard is it to tell your daughter that she isn't a princess? The only people who shouldn't be telling their daughter this are actual kings and queens, other than that just sit you daughter down and explain that the Disney Princess like Cinderella, Snow White, Elsa, Arial, Belle, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, and the other ones (is Princess Leia a Disney Princess now?) are cartoons, fairy tales, just explain that they are real and that being a princess isn't a very common thing to be in the real world. I mean how is that hard? Sure they will be disappointed at first, but it's like went they find out (*SPOILERS*) Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny aren't real. Plus the idea and standard that Disney Princesses have both morally and physically is basically unobtainable, good luck trying to sing to birds and getting them to sing back. The physical side of the princesses is almost the same problem as the Barbie image. They portray unrealistically skinny and thin girls that aren't physically proportional, and this can definitely be a claim for a problem with the Princess image. Again it all comes down to just talking to your daughters and explaining the difference being real life expectations and fairy tale expectations. There is a great video by the AVbyte brothers that show what Princess Leia has to go through to become a Disney Princess, the link to the video is below. As always comment below and let me know you thoughts on the blog or the video.
