Mean Girls is based on my hometown

Going against my most recent post about how princesses aren't always a bad thing, I have proof from my life experiences that some bitchy "princesses" DO exist...

I grew up in a suburb north of Chicago. Have you heard of NorthShore High School in Evanston... from Mean Girls? Well that school does not exist, but I do live in the suburb right next to Evanston. The area surrounding the lake is called The North Shore (of Chicago), and it is exactly like how Mean Girls plays it out to be. So thank you Mean Girls for showing the world where I'm from.

Everything about Mean Girls living life is completely true. The majority of my high school acts and dresses like those girls
(and boys). Houses are that big, cars are that nice, and yes... some moms do get boob jobs or other work on their body to look as young as their high schooler.

The only thing that isn't true is the drama. And its not only because Hollywood likes to exaggerate high school "bullies",  but because my high school has over 4,000+ students, it's almost impossible to 1) bully kids that intensely and 2) know that much about that many people in my school.

Obviously nobody was a saint in my high school, kids got picked just like anywhere else. But what really made North Shore girls evil were their cocky-ass, materialistic, drama queen, cliquey attitudes.

Some girls would have a temper tantrum at 17 for not getting what they want. If it was a dress from TopShop, the newest iPhone, the most expensive designer purse, the list goes on... and most of them always seemed to get mom and dad to buy it for them. Luckily my parents raised me right- i grew up watching and loving princess movies, but I never once cared too much about the clothes on my back, car that I drive, or house I live in. My parents didn't need to "buy my love", in fact most of my friends were jealous of how close my family was, we didn't need nice things to show people how happy we were.

The biggest thing at my high school was getting tickets and VIP passes to concerts. Since my parents work at one of Chicago's biggest radio stations, I could go to any concert at anytime I just don't think of it as a big deal, like some of my fellow students did in high school. People would fight for tickets with other students or people online, they would beg mom and dad for months, or they would cozy up to me and ask if I could "help them out". (Yes, everyone in my high school liked me for my concert hook-ups. It was a blessing and a curse..)

Every girl is a bitch (even me), every person wants nice things and to look cool. Its just to the level that you want these things and how many times a girl "turns her bitch on"that shows what Princess Culture did to her.
