War and Population (Danielle Jones(

What affects does war have on our culture? A question that many people may ask and a question I asked myself when it came upon this section. In todays society video games are being produced as a source of media to try to recruit people to join the military. The lines between civilian and military are going away. Merging of television news and videogames helps us to understand war. Military outreach and recruiting is one way the military is able to recruit. We understand war through being able to visualize it. This is use of Life style marketing , creating a virtual citizen-soldier. For example use things you do in your life to market you. Using the fact that we all go see movies to recruit and educate you on war. The use of video games because you are able to experience war. This to me is brilliant way of recruting because it draws the person in. Call of Duty is the biggest example Iknow of war in culture. This game is played by many people i know and even though all of them are not apart of the militarty some of them are. These games takes away from reality and realistic war; this happens because it potrays a virtual image of what you think war is like. This to me makes the jobs of the recruiters easy because the video games and movies things in the media does their job for them by recruiting people becasue they are sold but what they feel may be reality. This is just one of the many things that play as great interest to me in this class.
