Codes of Gender video

Last week we watched a video called Codes of Gender and this video talked about different poses that men and women do when getting their picture taken.  This video was really interesting to me because I never thought about different poses that genders do and what they actually mean.  Although, I do not agree 100% with this video it made me think a lot.  I was thinking that maybe back in the day the certain poses that genders do really do mean something, like in the video it had girls never looking confident and authoritative, but instead looking like they are scared.  I believe back sometime ago this was probably true of why women do certain poses and why men do certain poses, but now I believe it is just for attention and to look "sexy" for women and also with men.  Now, females and males are still doing these poses, but I believe it just is natural and has no real meaning behind each pose besides if it is sexy or not.  Everybody is always worried how they look in pictures and I know a lot of people that take a thousand pictures just to get the perfect one because of how judgmental our social media has become.  I agree with the video for the most part, I just feel that we as a society has came away from the actual meaning behind the poses and we just go for the sexiest, best looking pose we can possibly do.
