A Different Kind of Princess

We're constantly exposed to the image of a Disney princess. Princesses have pretty hair, nice dresses, and always end up with Prince Charming. Girls desire to be a princess even into adulthood as one of the wedding dress styles is the princess ball gown.

But what if we changed our perception of princess? Over spring break, I was inspired by a male friend to totally reconsider the meaning of princess. This guy said to me and my friend, "I think all girls are princesses." So naturally I rolled my eyes at his attempt to make us swoon. But then when I asked why he thought that, I was not prepared for his response.

"A woman who follows God is a daughter of the Father. Since the Father is King, that makes you his princess, and therefore you should be loved like a princess." Okay, SWOON. Princess doesn't mean beauty and a lavish lifestyle. A princess is a woman of God who loves the Lord and loves others with a godly love. The men in her life respect her because of her heart for the Lord, not because of her physical beauty. Naturally, her godly intentions will make her radiate beauty in a way only a godly man will fully appreciate.

And that, is my new idea of a princess.
