A Feminist Can Like Princesses Too

                                                  I am a feminist. 

But I don't burn bras, I don't hate men, and I don't behead dolls.

Bras are too expensive (and very much needed for my breast size..), men are too cute to hate, and a beheaded doll sounds like the creepiest thing ever!


I am a feminist because I believe in equality. Not just for women, but for men too. Women and men of any age, religion, race, sexual orientation, background, etc. should all be treated fairly and the equal as anyone else in the world

Princesses aren't harmful at all! There is no reason for feminist or other women to attack princess stories. They no way say "men are superior to women!!"or anything of that nature. Specifically in Disney fairy tales, the princesses are young, beautiful, motivational, young women. And last time I checked, its GOOD to have self confidence. Its GOOD to be beautiful and take care of yourself. Everyone (again men and women) should feel special, one of a kind, loved, smart, and feel like they are good looking.

Parents, peers and media influence people to act a way they do. If your young child is a brat YOU need to fix it! Cut down TV/computer time, make sure they have friends who are a good influence (even though they will probably hangout with them regardless), and stop spoiling them. They might be your heaven on earth, but do they really need 50 purses or every video game out there?

There is nothing wrong with calling yourself a princess, as long as its sarcastic.

And OBVIOUSLY there is nothing wrong with thinking you are a beautiful independent woman (or that you are Prince Charming and every chick wants you) Just don't drag anyone down to make yourself feel better or get too cocky about yourself.


If you think Disney Movies are showing women in a negative light, get over it. Its a movie. Since when is anything media related close to real life? Plus its for children. Please let them have their fun. Cause a 5 year old girl in a blue Cinderella dress or a little boy in a cape or superhero costume on a playground is probably the cutest thing in the world.
Princesses and superheroes do not negatively influence children unless you let them.
