Needing an Epic Win?

After reading through "Wii Shall Overcome" more and after our class discussion about it on Tuesday, I was really blown away by how many people spend time playing video games but also how some think it could honestly change some of the world's biggest problems. At first, I was laughing at the points of how this could be true but then I read their reasons.
The part which I want to dive in more was the "Epic win" and how these "Epic wins" truly can impact someone. These wins allow ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Though, getting to the highest level possible of Angry Birds is equivalent to saving someone's life? Maybe not exactly but the feeling of accomplishment is still there.
The reason that stood out to me was how we don't really let the virtual defeats affect us too much. Why would we? We can just hit re-start and try again. I know this will be a news flash for everyone but there is no restart button in real life. There is only one shot, one life and if you screw everything up then it is over. Real life problems or issues become more apparent and are harder to deal with than virtually issues.
This is why though video games are important from the standpoint of energy level and making people feel a sense of accomplishment. It is almost like just saying a nice comment to someone to help get them in the right frame of mindset. You may think simply saying "thank you" or saying "good job yesterday" is very small, but they could go a long way in determining how the person acts the rest of the day. Same thing with a virtual game in getting a high score, it can truly make you feel accomplished and want to take on whatever comes your way the rest of the day.
