When fame can go wrong....

In my last post I discussed Honey Boo and Mama June making money off of acting ignorant. In that post I stated that I am ok with the show and understand their acts because it improves their lives financially. Although I still agree with the everything I said in that last post, after writing it I started to see different examples of publicized ignorance that I didn't agree with.

One of the main examples of publicized ignorance that I HATE (strong word I know, but its true) is the story Lil' Terio, who got famous off the "Ooh Killem" vines. Terio before was an unknown child that was filmed dancing on the sidewalk. The video was then posted on vine and then spread like a wild fire. The reason why this vine had so much success is because of Terio's look. Terio's weight adds to the humor of the vine. Since his initial success many T.V. shows, other media outlets and even meme's have featured Terio.

Like many others in life, a small dosage of fame and fortune can lead to the desire to have more. This is true in my opinion of Terio's situation. Over the few short months since the "Ooh Kill'em" vine went viral, its easy to see that Terio's management is taking his success all the way to the bank. But unlike the Honey Boo Boo situation, riding Terio's success is a bad thing because increasing his success has led to weight gain. Because of his initial success of the vine showing a chubby kid dancing ridiculous, an even chubbier kid should be funnier, right? For some that answer could be yes. In my opinion, its a strong no. Why would it be funny to see a morbidly obese child dance around knowing all the implications his weight has on his health? It seems as if no one in charge of Terio is weighing the implications of this child's health against the five minutes of fame he is getting. Hopefully someone steps up for this child and realizes that money shouldn't go over health.

Below is two images of Terio. The left being him in the initial Ooh Kill'em Vine and the right is a more recent picture.
