For the past few year, Honey Boo Boo has came on the scene and has become a huge sensation. In fact, the idea of a redneck on TV has become a huge sensation. Shows like Duck Dynasty, My Big Redneck Wedding, Moonshiners, and Swamp People are all shows that star a "hillbilly" cast. I have seen some of these shows before, but I refuse to watch them on a daily basis. These shows are easy to watch because we all think that rednecks are hilarious.
Honey Boo Boo and her family are perfect examples of a redneck or hillbilly. Honey Boo Boo's mother dresses her up for pageant contests and she is somewhat successful. The occasional appearance of 'Sugar Bear' is always something to look forward to. He comes in and mumbles something about the situation, with a big fat dip in his mouth. In my opinion, he is the funniest character on the show.
Other shows, like Duck Dynasty, are becoming very popular. This shows is about a redneck family who creates a "duck call" and they become filthy rich. They pretty much sit around in their house, barn, or offices, and talk about whatever is going on in their life. The show itself is pretty entertaining and I am not sure why. There is no point to the show but everyone, including myself, find it easy to watch.
Currently, redneck shows are taking off because they are very comedic. They are basically shows about nothing, but they all seem to be very successful.
