Life Hours Well Spent?

When we talked about the binge watching of television shows and how many hours we've spent watching them I decided to go to the website that calculates how much time you've spent watching television. For this purpose I decided to only include shows that I know I have watched every season available of and I tried to limit to shows I have watched on Netflix or Hulu, or that I have watched within the last 4 years (during my college years).

The shows I included:
Ugly Americans, Switched at Birth, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Arrested Development, The Walking Dead, Adventure Time, That 70's Show, Bates Motel, South Park, Family Guy, Dexter, Breaking Amish, Doctor Who, Deadly Women, Orange is the New Black, Attack On Titan, Deathnote, Samurai Champloo, Masterchef Junior, Soul Eater, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Parks and Recreation, Game of Thrones, The Office, Scrubs, and Breaking Bad

Now I know that this is not in reality all that I have watched in the last four years, but it is all that I have enjoyed to watch. After entering this list I was told I had spent 55 days, 17 hours, and 14 minutes watching television. WHAT THE APP DIDN'T KNOW is that I have watched OITNB, The Office, Dexter, Scrubs, South Park, Family Guy, and Doctor Who either the entire series more than once (Dexter, The office, Scrubs, OITNB) or many of the episodes more than once.

To make myself feel better about this I estimated how much I have slept in the last four years, at an average of 8 hours a night (I'm not going to lie many times I have slept 12 hours a night) and that totaled to be around 485 days in four years.

I know that the amount I have watched television is probably considered unhealthy, but I have also done many things for an extended period of time. Luckily, I only do things I enjoy doing and to me that is not a waste of time.

I am happily married, I go outside on a daily basis, and I am soon to be pursuing my Master's Degree. Maybe If I had only spent that time watching TV I would feel bad, but I know that much of the time I have spent watching TV has also been a bonding experience.

I watched Doctor Who with one of my best friends, and I watched several seasons of Anime, Scrubs, and The Office with my Husband. Storytelling is part of human life, and I do not feel bad for spending probably around 3 months straight of my life in the last four years in front of a television, because I know it made me happy and helped me form cultural connections with others.
