Oh, Reality TV

Sadly I have to admit I have watched Reality TV. It's hard to avoid when I am at home and all my parents watch is Pawn Stars and talk about how people misunderstand Duck Dynasty. Well mom and dad, you were right...again.

In class today we discussed how Duck Dynasty, Honey Boo Boo and the Real Housewives show 'reality' of a poor and working class. Now let's stop right there. None of these people in this show are poor, BY ANY MEANS. Honey Boo Boo has all of the money they earned saved up, Duck Dynasty are rich as heck and sometimes go on trips, and I have never seen Real Housewives so I don't know their lives. Not that I know D.D. or HBB life either but my family sometimes talks about them or peers.

If you're on TV you're rich. Let's be real. My friend was on a MTV show and she got 50,000 bucks for 'falling in love.' Some people just don't flaunt it in the show like others. Kardashians are probably in the same money range as DD but they just don't parade around their money. Was it because they didn't get the TV show because they were rich? Or because they worked for their money, where Kardashians are products of their fathers earnings. Seriously do these people's money run out? And who do I email to get $100 dollars free because I know they have the money to spare.

My sister watches DD and my cousin watches the Kardashians. My cousin mentioned to my sister, "I don't know how you can watch that show." my sister came back with " why because they earned their money and not a bunch of stuck up bitches?" There are different personalities and also what we talked about in class thinking we are better than them so we laugh at them and watch it for our amusement.

I think all of these shows are too focused on money. Even though they are not apparent in the show, they are still using money, they are making money off people laughing at them. I don't understand why we think this is right. So what we don't understand it, so we laugh at it? That is the worst excuse I have ever heard. If someone could explain that to me, I will love to hear it because I really don't get why people laugh at something they don't get rather than thinking about it and trying to understand it.
