Strong and Shine

Does gender bias still exist? If the answer is no, then, why is it that women who take charge tend to be called bossy, whereas men who do the same is just doing his job as a boss? Or why is it that when mothers are passionate about their career, they tend to be seen as selfish, while working dads are dedicated? It is also quite startling that a recent study said 70% of men feel that women need to downplay their personality in order to be accepted.
Pantene, a brand that stands for empowering women to shine boldly, highlighted the issue of double standards and the culture of inequality that people have come to accept as the norm. Although initially approached from a local standpoint, the campaign resonated to the global market, recognizing an idea that was inspired by a hard-hitting reality that every woman faces.
I still remember the commercial produced by Pantene, which shows the women are strong either, I love that video and it really impressed me so much, named Labels against women. Generally speaking, women are propertied as not as strong as men. Women need protection, and they are easy to be cheated, and hurt. Usually women are used for a tool to attract men some even for entertainment, from ancient to now, almost all success are from men.  In this commercial, some scenes and environments are same, the first shot is about successful men, but the next scent is about women. They can stand the same position with men. Men can be called neat, but women are vain. Men are considered smooth, but women become show off. Tear off al labels, be you, just shine.

The film Mulan, produced by Disney was based on Hua Mulan, is a legendary figure from ancient China. From her story, there is an old saying that is “谁说女子不如男” which means why not  say girls are not stronger as men. Sometimes, women have the unexpected energy, and more patient. So, be strong and shine.
