Video Games Cannot Save the World

Video games cannot chance the world. It would not help people to solve the real world problem. In my opinion, video games are games. It is just a way people get out of the real world and play something virtually. It is undeniable that video games can help to train people with some physical skills, such as driving a car, a helicopter, or a plane. But it is just a game. There are three reasons that I believe video games would not help us to solve real world problem and create a better future.

The first reason is that, for video games, it is a whole bunch of programmed computerizable computer languages. Which means everything you will experience in a video game is already there. And it will react based on the players input. No matter it is from keyboard, mouse, or a gaming handle. But in the real world. Nobody knows exactly what tomorrow will be. No one can program all the factors that affect our world. It is unpredictable. Some people may argue that they know what they will do according to their schedule, but they cannot predict how the world will be in just the next second.

The second reason is that, video games always have a certain amount of gaming period/mission. The Need for Speed, Battle Field, Crysis, Grand Theft Auto and so many other video games have the end, which is to say that there is going to be a certain point in the future, the player will finish all the missions or accomplishment in a video game and say "this is the end of it". I am also a video game player. I would not stop playing a video game until I finished all the missions. But then I found out that even if I finished a certain video game, I will also try another one. But they are so similar! I was wasting time and money on the same type of video games. If it was in the real world, people will just try out a certain kind of problem and solve it, then apply the technic for the same problem for the future. Therefore, it makes no sense to spend time and money to figure out the same problem every time. Just learn to apply what people would do in the past.

The third reason is that “leveling up” means nothing in the real world. A person get a certain skill through doing a certain job. The skills that the person get can apply to the future same works. But that does not mean the person are capable of other things as intelligent as dealing the job he has finished. Therefore, the video game’s pattern of leveling up do not apply when solving the real world problem.

All in all, video games are just games. It is for people to figure out something that have been programmed. When human beings knows all the factors the affect our universe, we do not need to use video games to solve all the real world problems. The computer can do the work for us. At that time, people can play video games all life without worrying any real world problem. In conclusion, do not waste your time on video games. You had better spend those time on the real world problem.
