I realize this may look like a generic post, however I think a lot of people in this class can relate. Other than COMM 210, this Communication class is the only other class I have taken outside of my Health Science major that was not required and does not apply to my major or department at all.
When I was looking for a class to satisfy the Tier 2 requirement I was having a rough time, none of them looked interesting or applied to my major. Like anyone else I just wanted an easier class that I could get a good grade in. Then I came across COMM 322, I read the description of the course and immediately it sounded like an interesting course.
Now that we are almost done with this semester I can definitely say that I am glad that I chose this course. I may struggle with some of the concepts that we talk about and have a hard time thinking of things in the way that some individuals in our class are able to, but I genuinely enjoy this class. It has opened up my mind to look our popular culture in a different way, which is the objective of the course.
It has also been a nice break from my usual health science courses of learning about how to teach others to be healthy. I would definitely recommend this course and I think that everyone should take at least one course that is interesting to them even if it has absolutely nothing to do with their major. It allows you to explore your interests and may make you realize you chose the right major, or even the wrong one. Although I have enjoyed this course a lot and would definitely recommend it to others, I know that I have found the right major for me and I do not personally think I could succeed in a major of Communications.
