War Culture in Movie Black Hawk Down

In the movie Black Hawk Down, all the soldiers are willing to be good ones to save the world. but the reality is that they are just the sacrifice of the politicians. At that time, if the Washington did not made the decision to send marines to Somalia, there will not be such a war that made so many people dead, which include US soldiers.

In the beginning, the new guy named Todd Blackburn was so optimistic with the missions and the duties he carried. He wanted to help the civilians and kick out the bad guys in Somalia. He is such a good boy. But when the mission just started. He fell on the ground when his turn to roping down from a Black Hawk helicopter, but the pilot need to take a tactical reaction to avoid RPG's attack. Therefore, he missed the rope. He was badly injured even before the battle started.

Afterward, there were several soldiers dead because two Black Hawk helicopters went down due to RPG attacks by the militia of Aidid. Then, the mission totally changed. The General have to call for backups from UN to save the soldiers still in the battle field. Finally, the 30 minutes mission turned out to be a battle which lasted for about a day. Many soldiers went into trouble because they did not carry enough tools and equipment since they believe they won't need those stuff for a 30 minutes mission.

In conclusion, if the politicians do not starts the war, soldiers would not die. Remember, soldiers are human beings. They have their families; they have emotions; they have dreams and ambitions. But they died because of they need to accomplish the duties and missions that finally counted on the politicians’ fame.
